Abstract: NCP_TRAPMUX FORWARDS TRAP PACKETS USING INCORRECT LENGTH
Description: When routing snmp traps through the ncp multiplexor, it appears that while
it will receive the trap ok it only will forward out 1024 bytes. If the trap is longer than
that, it just truncates the trap.

Abstract: MARKING DEVICES AS UNMANAGED WHEN THE BACKUP DOMAIN IS
ACTING PRIMARY FAILS TO SET NMOSMANAGEDSTATUS IN PROBE EVENTS
Description: Unmanage a device when in failover mode, with the backup domain
having become the acting primary domain, unmanage one of the
devices. Events from the network manger poller are correctly suppressed.
However, events from other sources, such Syslog or Mttrapd
(SNMP) probe fail to have the NmosManagedStatus field set
correctly to 1. This means they show up on Event Lists that
use NmosManagedStatus to filter out events from devices that
are known to be unmanaged.

Abstract: WHEN RIGHT CLICKING AND CHOSING TO "GRAPH SNMP MIB DATA" ERROR
RECEIVED "... HOST CANNOT BE FOUND IN THE NCIM DATABASE"
Description: 1) In hop view, I searched for the node in the domain. Select
this node.
2) When the view shows up, I right clicked and chose to "Graph
SNMP MIB Data". I go to the second tab, select any poll.
3) When I select "OK" to graph the data, I receive the message:
"The specified host cannot be found in the NCIM database. Please
choose another." This is caused when no interface record exists in scratchTopology with an m_IpAddress of the chassis.
Action:
The fix is to check for chassis objects that have no corresponding interface records in CreateScratchTopology and tag them.
A change to ModelNcimDb.cfg will create records in the ipEndPoint table for chassis that have been tagged.
If the NCHOME/etc/precision/ModelNcimDb.cfg has been customized before, then the existing file should be merged with
NCHOME/etc/precision/default/ModelNcimDb.cfg with the appropriate value set.

Abstract: MULTI TABS PROBLEM ON ITNM3.8
Description: The below 2 issues always occur, while following the steps.
Issue-1:
1> Open "Discovery Configuration" , select DomainA and make some
change in the advanced. Do not save.
2> Open "Discovery Status", select DomainB. Do nothing.
3> Go back to "Discovery Configuration", still red words remind
you to save the change and the domain drop-down list is still
domainA.
4> Click the 'save' button. Saved, and the domain drop-down list
refreshed from DomainA to DomainB(sync with the drop-down list
of "Discovery Status"?), but the configurations in the webpage
are still of DomainA.
5> Click the 'save' button again, DomainB scope config over-writed by DomainA's
Issue-2:
1> Start the discovery for DomainA and DomainB
During the disco process, execute the following steps.
2> Open "Discovery Status" and select DomainA
3> Open "Discovery Config" and select DomainB
(select different Domain from step1).
=> verify the message "Downloading..."
4> Back to "Discovery Status", where the domain drop-down list
is still domainA, and Click "Stop" button.
=> then Discovery process for domainB stopped while we meant
to stop domainA's.

Abstract: SNMP STACK NEEDS REPORTABLEFLAG TO BE SET TO 1 IN SOME CASES
Description: The reportable Flag needs to be set to 1 in case of possible
packet that can not be decoded by target device.
For latest Huaway firmware the devices expects the flag to be
set to 1, but it is not during the SNMP GetNext statements
issued by network manger. We need a change to the network manger
SNMP stack such that it checks the PDU type that its is about to send and sets the reportableFlag accordingly.
This means that we'd be able to successfully discover the Huawei devices with this new firmware.
In theory this could impact discovery of other vendors equipment
via SNMPv3 but if they are following the standard then they
should be ignoring the reportable Flag so this is a relatively
low risk.

Abstract: THE DOMAIN_DROP.PL SCRIPT IS SUPPOSED TO INCREMENTALLY DELETE
ENTITIES FROM A DOMAIN.
Description: When deleting directly from the domainMgr table or deleting all
entities in a single command, the level of cascaded deletions
that are performed can result in a transaction that is too large
for the database to handle or is simply too slow. The
domain_drop.pl script resolves this by incrementally deleting
batches of entities from the domain before deleting the domain
itself, but this mechanism does not currently work. The entities
are deleted only at the end of the script, when the domain
itself is removed from the domainMgr table. This defeats the
purpose of the script, and can fail on very large topologies.

Abstract: RCA FAILS TO SUPPRESS EVENTS FROM THE CHASSIS IP WHEN THE GRAPH
ENDS ON AN INTERFACE WITH THE SAME IP.
Description:
Isolated-Suppression fails to suppress events from the chassis
when the graph though the network terminates on an interface with the same
IP.In the user case, the interface that is used to identify the
chassis is contained within an VLAN. Although the VLAN is
subsequently contained within the chassis, it is also isolated
within the chassis because the chassis device is not an
IP-FORWARDING device. So although connectivity extends from the
interface to the VLAN, the path is not continuous up to the
chassis entity.
Therefore when RCA encounters events from the Chassis entity, it fails to
complete a continuous path from the polling station all
the way to the chassis and does not mark the event as a symptom.
Action:
1.Modify the Discovery stitcher code so that the interface
is upwardly connected to the VLAN.
2. Modify the RCA code so that when the Isolated-Suppression
algorithm encounters an interface on the path that has the same
IP address as the chassis, it looks for events on the chassis
too and suppresses any events it finds on the chassis.

Year to date implies all data from the beginning of the current year.

Description: When creating a Poll Definition involving a literal string, the
literal must be placed within single quotes. If you don't place
the string in quotes, the poller throws the error "error in

However if you quote the string, it appears the quotes are
replaced by the string "'". This happens if you change

save the definition and edit a 3rd time, the "&" in "'" is
replaced by "&". And this replacement of the "&" will go on

Armonk, N.Y. - 21 Feb 2013: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today unveiled IBM MobileFirst, the most comprehensive mobile portfolio that combines security, analytics and app development software, with cloud-based services and deep mobile expertise. Using IBM MobileFirst solutions, businesses can now streamline everything from the management of employee mobile devices, to the creation of a new mobile commerce app that will transform their entire business model.
Today’s move by IBM builds off of its experience helping nearly 1,000 customers become mobile enterprises, and takes advantage of its thousands of mobile experts and 270 patents in wireless innovations. Additionally, IBM has made 10 mobile-related acquisitions in the past four years alone.
IBM today is also announcing an expanded relationship with AT&T to provide developers with tools to create faster, richer mobile apps and services for customers. For instance, organizations can now quickly incorporate payment and messages into their apps.
“To date, mobile computing has been dominated by discussions of new smartphones, operating systems, games and apps,” said Robert LeBlanc, senior vice president, middleware software, IBM. “But enterprises have yet to tap into the potential of mobile business. Just as the Internet transformed the way we bank, book vacations and manage our healthcare, mobile computing is also transforming industries. As these devices become ingrained in everything that we do, businesses are now in the palms of their customers’ hands. IBM MobileFirst is designed to make the transformation to becoming a mobile enterprise a reality.”
Through IBM MobileFirst, IBM is providing companies with the essential tools to take advantage of new business opportunities being enabled by mobile. To be successful in embracing mobile for driving revenue growth, clients must have an integrated strategy for mobile, cloud, big data, social business and security. Today’s announcements from IBM help clients harness these complex technologies to drive innovation and growth. Daegu Health College and the Dutch City of Eindhoven are prime examples of how IBM is helping clients transform using mobile.
IBM MobileFirst includes:
A Broad Portfolio of Mobile Solutions
IBM’s mobile solutions portfolio provides the key elements of an application and data platform with the management, security and analytics capabilities needed for the enterprise. In addition to meeting mobile-specific requirements, the portfolio provides for rapid integration between social and cloud services as well as back-end technologies that help secure and manage strategic business processes. Key aspects include:
· IBM MobileFirst Platform – New updates include expanded capabilities of IBM Worklight to simplify deployment. It also features single sign-on capabilities for multiple applications. A new beta of the Rational Test Workbench for mobile helps to improve the quality and reliability of mobile apps.
· IBM MobileFirst Security – IBM extends its context-based mobile access control solutions and expands mobile application vulnerability testing with support for Apple iOS apps with the latest release of AppScan.
· IBM MobileFirst Management – New updates to IBM Endpoint Manager include enhanced support for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs and increased security standards that are critical to governments and regulated environments.
· IBM MobileFirst Analytics – IBM is expanding its Tealeaf CX Mobile solution to give enterprises more visual insight into mobile behaviors so they can better understand where improvements are needed and create exceptional and consistent consumer experiences across mobile devices.
To provide organizations with maximum flexibility and accelerate their adoption of mobile computing, these solutions can also be delivered through cloud and managed services.
A Deep Set of Mobile Services for Clients
Enterprises are embracing the mobile revolution at a rapid pace. IBM has thousands of mobile experts to help clients understand how industries will be transformed in a mobile world, based on client engagements across more than a dozen industries. The IBM MobileFirst portfolio features several services to help clients establish mobile strategies, design and implement mobile projects. These include:
· IBM MobileFirst Strategy and Design Services – Clients can tap into IBM expertise to map out a mobile strategy for employees and customers, and key experience design skills from IBM Interactive to build compelling mobile experiences. IBM’s new Mobile Maturity Model can assess how a business is progressing towards becoming a mobile enterprise, while new Mobile Workshops help clients develop applications, architect infrastructure and accelerate their mobile progress.
· IBM MobileFirst Development and Integration Services – IBM offers services that help organizations roll out a mobile infrastructure and manage mobile application portfolios and BYOD environments. Enhanced Network Infrastructure Services for Mobile provide IT network strategy, optimization, integration and management. Mobile Enterprise Services for Managed Mobility help manage and secure smartphones, tablets and devices across a business. Mobile Application Platform Management helps speed deployment of mobile infrastructure to develop mobile applications more easily and quickly.
An Expansive Set of Mobile Resources and Programs for Business Partners, Developers and Academics
According to IBM’s recent Tech Trends Report, only one in 10 organizations has the skills needed to effectively apply advanced technologies such as mobile computing. To help overcome this skills gap, IBM is rolling out a series of resources to help its ecosystem of developers, partners and academics tap into the mobile opportunity and augment existing skills or develop new ones. For instance:
· Developers – IBM today is announcing a relationship with AT&T that will enable developers to enhance mobile apps by using IBM Worklight to access AT&T’s APIs in the cloud. Now, developers have another tool with AT&T to quickly and easily create apps with rich features such as speech recognition and rapid payment.
IBM is also rolling out new technical assets on developerWorks and CodeRally, a developer game community.
· Business Partners – With Ready for IBM MobileFirst, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can also embed mobile technologies into their solutions and Software Value Plus now provides mobile certifications, workshops and incentives for resellers and systems integrators.
· Academics – To help train the next generation of mobile developers, IBM is offering new faculty grants for curricula development. IBM is also making IBM Worklight available, free of charge, for the classroom and via online training to teach both students and faculty to develop for mobile environments.
IBM Global Financing, the lending and leasing arm of IBM, can also help companies affordably transform into mobile enterprises. Credit-qualified clients can take advantage of simple, flexible lease and loan packages for the IBM MobileFirst portfolio – some starting at as low as 0% for 12 months with no up-front costs – allowing businesses to acquire essential technology and services while managing cash flow more effectively.

Armonk, N.Y. - 01 Feb 2013: IBM (NYSE:IBM) today announced a definitive agreement to acquire the software portfolio of Star Analytics Inc., a privately held business analytics company headquartered in Redwood City, California. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The combination of IBM and Star Analytics software will further advance IBM's business analytics initiatives, allowing organizations to gain faster access and real-time insight into specialized data sources. With growing challenges in gaining a more complete view into varying types of data, companies are increasingly looking for ways to automate and provide business users with self-service access to critical information.
Star Analytics software addresses a rising challenge for organizations -- helping to automatically integrate essential information, reporting applications and business intelligence tools across their enterprises, on premise or from cloud computing environments. The software removes typical custom coding for specialized sources that is hard to maintain. It also eliminates manual processes that are cumbersome and time consuming.
"IBM sees an enormous opportunity for our clients to apply Star Analytics to the information they have stored in their financial applications," said Leslie J Rechan, General Manager, IBM Business Analytics. "And to then easily access it within their IBM performance management and business intelligence solutions."
"Star Analytics software allows organizations to move critical analytics source data at will and use it regardless of which application they need to use it with, providing both flexibility and accessibility," said Quinlan Eddy, CEO, Star Analytics. "As part of IBM, we can now bring our technologies to a broader range of clients to help them uncover new, untapped growth opportunities."
IBM has established the world’s deepest portfolio of Smarter Analytics and Big Data technologies and industry expertise, including almost 9,000 dedicated business analytics and optimization consultants, and 400 researchers. Nearly 500 of the patents from IBM’s record breaking 20th year of innovation will serve as the building blocks for future analytics innovations that will help businesses and governments unlock the power of big data.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
