Abstract: MAINTENANCESTARTTIME AND MAINTENANCEENDTIME IS NULL IN MANAGED
STATUS TABLE.
Description: When we keeping any device in maintenance mode then no data is
saved in the managedstatus table like MaintenanceStartTime and
MaintenanceEndTime, its always NULL but the changetime column is
being filled with correct date-time.

Abstract: DOMAIN SPECIFIC EVENTGATEWAYSCHEMA.<DOMAIN>.CFG FILE NOT RE-READ
BY KILL -HUP OF NCP_G_EVENT PROCESS
Description: When a schema file is read, check for domain-specific file. It looks for a
domain-specific version, and uses it if found. If not found, it defaults to the generic
version. The value changed is not picked up by the running
ncp_g_event. The action of kill -HUP of the ncp_g_event pid does not
cause it to re-read the domain specific EventGatewaySchema.domain.cfg file,

Abstract: ITNM AEL TOOLS DO NOT TRANSLATE TO FRENCH CHARACTER SET AS NCW T
OOLS DO ON THE SAME DROP DOWN MENU
Description: Active Event List tools for ITNM do not translate as they should.
Browser setting on French, TIP, Webtop and most parts of ITNM
automatically translate all of the text as expected, but tools from the 'alerts'
menus do not.

-----------------------
Abstract: NCO_P_NCPMONITOR HUP
Description: When sending the HUP signal to the nco_p_ncpmonitor probe with
ITNM, the probe responds to this signal by reconnecting to the objectserver.
The objectserver reports this by two ConnectionWatch events. However,
the ConnectionWatch is connection event (problem event) is often send one second
later than the ConnectionWatch connection event (resolution
event) when the ITNM probe responds to the HUP signal. Because
LastOccurrence of the resolution ConnectionWatch event is
earlier than the problem ConnectionWatch, the generic clear
trigger doesn't clear the problem ConnectionWatch event.
This behavior is noticed so far only with the ITNM probe when
it responds to the HUP signal. For other Omnibus probe that we
operate, the HUP respond of the probe doesn't have this effect.

Description: Unmanage/manage action causes backup poller to poll device.
In a failover environment with a Primary and Backup Poller
running, with the Primary domain healthy and acting primary, if
the user unmanages, then manages a device, the backup poller
will begin polling that device, and raising duplicate events.

Abstract: DEFAULT INTERFACE PING POLL DEFINITION HAS 'IFADMINSTATUS'
FILTER CASUING POLLER NOT TO POLL VALID IPADDRESSES.
Description: The 'Default Interface Ping' Poll definition has following
filters under Interface filter tab against 'ncim.interfaces'
table i.e. ipAddress IS NOT NULL ifAdminStatus = 'up'.
There could be many cases where we have valid IPAddress for an
interface where ifAdminStatus is not populated. All such

APAR : IV30425
-----------------------
Abstract:ON FAILOVER/FAILBACK, ACTIVE POLLER SHOULD CONTINUE POLLING
UNTIL NEW POLLER IS READY TO TAKE OVER
Description: When NCIM database is remote, Poller process takes very long
time to sync with NCIM and to evaluate the scope during
start-up. The start-up time could vary from 30 mins to 3 hours
depending upon domain size, number of active policies, number of
entities to monitor and Interface/Device filters etc.
Same delay is applicable in a failover scenario, when Primary
goes down, Backup domain takes over in the given configured
period - default is 5 minutes. But Poller isn't doing any
monitoring as the poller synchronization with NCIM and scope
evaluation of Poll policies/definitions could take few hours.
Same is true for failback scenario. On failback, the active Poller was sending it's heartbeat
once the monitors were activated, but before they started to
poll resulting in a gap in monitoring.

APAR : IV31296
-----------------------
Abstract: ASSOCADDRESS AGENT TO USE IPADENTADDR VALUE INSTEAD OF THE INDEX
FOR THE IPADDRTABLE ENTRY.
Description: Unable to discovery Redware Alteon Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and
VADC (Virtual ADC) properly. Introduce a new option called UseSnmpIpValue for
AssocAddres agent to use the actual ipAdEntAddr value instead of using the index of the
ipAddrTable entry, if the device's matches the OID filter defined in this flag. By default, the
agent will use the IP value from ipAdEntAddr column for Alteon devices.

APAR : IV31587
-----------------------
Abstract: SNMP TIMEOUT
Description: For every first SNMP query to determinate if the device responds
to SNMP, the timeout configured is not used. The process does not use wait 3 seconds to
start the first retry but it reties after 1 sec of timeout. During the initial SNMP credential
discovery the configured timeout and retries for a given IP address were not always
used. Meaning that sometimes ITNM failed to gain SNMP access
to devices that were responding slowly.

Abstract: NCP_POLLER CORE AT SHUT DOWN OF ITNM
Description: When shutting down the ncp_ processes, typically via
itnm_stop ncp, a core file is generated for the ncp_poller
process. When shutting down the ncp_ processes, typically via
itnm_stop ncp, a core file is generated for the ncp_poller
process when network contains devices managed via SNMP v3
and at least one SNMP poll policy is active.

Abstract: INVALID OID REQUESTED WHEN INTERFACE FILTERING IS ENABLED AND
ALL IN-SCOPE DEVICES ARE UNMANAGED AND REMANAGED
Description: Enable SNMP polling and apply an interface filter. The
interface filter prevents the poller from simply walking the
interface index and ensures that it has to construct the
interface index as part of the poll.
Select all the hosts that comprise the entire scope of the poll
policy. Then toggle the managed status of the devices, i.e.
unmanage them all, and then remanage them all.

APAR : IV33578
-----------------------
Abstract: THE ITNM_DISCO.PL CORE DUMP WHEN IT IS STOPPED BY CTRL+C
Description: The itnm_disco.pl core dump when interrupted by Ctrl+C.
The issue is caused by the way that AIX and perl handle signals. On Linux and Solaris the
signals end up being called within the main thread but on AIX they can get called on the
IO thread. In addition the use of multiple signal handlers can result in inconsistent data ( i.e. cores ) according to the perl manual. The ncp_perl script has a
signal handler and as the perl script also had a signal handler it caused a core.

Abstract: GET_POLICIES.PL DOES NOT IMPORT POLICY INTERFACE FILTER WHEN
MIGRATING FROM 3.8 TO 3.9
Description: When trying to migrate policies from 3.8 to 3.9 ,
policy interface filter is lost. In ITNM 3.8 interface filter is stored on policy.ifScopeId
column. In 3.9 interface filter is defined at template level (template.ifScopeId).
The migration process:3.8 - ncp_perl get_policies.pl -from domain=NCOMS -to
file=get_policies_NCOMS.dat. 3.9 - ncp_perl get_policies.pl -from
file=get_policies_NCOMS.dat -to domain=NCOMS
fails to transfer the interface filter (policy.ifScopeId -> template.ifScopeId).

Abstract: SNMP COMMUNITY STRING INDEXING FAILED ON NORTEL DEVICES AND BAD
SNMP COMMUNITY STRING REPORTED
Description: NortelSwitch agent uses community string indexing to query FDB data,
causing SNMP authentication failure alarm generated. It has been found out that
Nortel/Avaya switches that supports standard FDB MIBs do not support community string
Indexing. The NortelSwitch agent code has been updated to avoid using community string
indexing if the device do not support private FDB MIBs and only supports standard FDB
MIBs. NortelSwtich agent would use community string indexing only if the device supports
private FDB MIBs.

APAR : IV37074
-----------------------
Abstract: POLLER PRODUCES A LARGE AMOUNT OF EVENTS AFTER STARTUP
Description: The poller generates hundreds of Link State change events on
startup. Most of these events may be for empty ports or access
ports if the Link State polls did not filter out these
interfaces, and of little value. With the introduction of FP02 the initial state of all polls are
determined by existing events. If there are no existing events then the initial state is
determined to be "clear". In networks where ports are not yet used, but have not be
placed into AdminStatus down, having the initial state set to clear can result in
unnecessary Snmp Link State down events. Previously the first poll would have been used
to establish the initial state for the Snmp Link State polls, resulting in no link down events.
for customers who do not set their port's AdminStatus this was the desired behavior.

Currently the ITNM WebGUI is not translating mainNode only

functional issue whereby device specific views are not
generating alerts on each devices containment, rather just on
the device itself. There is also a knock-on performance problem
whereby, when endNodes="true" is set the generated filter is
based on the full set of device containment as NmosEnityId
rather than the more efficient NmosObjInst. "Hung Thread" and
"Out-of-Memory" errors in logs; followed by system slowdown.

(either because the interface was removed from the topology to

alarms on the chassis and down stream network. This would
happen because the alarms were being updated to set the

LookupIfEntry.stch prevents the alarm being treated as a
chassis alarm on it's first occurrence but subsequent
occurrences are treated by RCA as at the level of the chassis

Abstract: NETNUMBER AND IPNUMBER IN NCIM.IPENDPOINT INCORRECTLY CALCULATED
Description: The NETNUMBER and IPNUMBER are incorrectly calculated
for IPv6 addresses. Some translations of IPv6 addresses to number form failed on
little endian systems because ntohl() was used with 64-bit
values (it only supports 32-bit).
User running on, say, linux on intel x86 (little endian)
encountered the issue while big endian systems (e.g Solaris
on SPARC, or AIX on PowerPC) wouldn't hit the issue.
The end result was that the IPNUMBER and NETNUMBER values in
NCIM's ipEndPoint table could be wrong.

============================================================================

Prerequisites

IBM Tivoli Network Manager V3.9 must be installed before applying this
Fix Pack. Fix Pack 4 can be install over original 3.9 GA (3.9.0.32), 3.9 Refresh (3.9.0.68) or any other 3.9 Fix Pack.

Ensure that there is approximately 1 GB of free space on the drive on which the product was installed.

Windows 2008 imposes a limit of 260 characters for the full name (including path) of a file.
Network Manager 3.9 Fix Pack 2 and later fix packs already have some very long directory names
because the fix pack contains updates from many components such as WebSphere, TIP, TCR,
which by themselves are up to 221 characters in length, including separators. Therefore Windows
users are advised to select a location for the compressed Network Manager 3.9 Fix Pack image
on their machine so that when extracted, the resulting file names are less than 260 characters.
For example, C:\Build will work as a location for the fix pack image, but
C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Test will not.

Note: When using the Windows command line, preface and suffix environment
variables with the percentage sign %, and replace each forward slash (/)
with a backslash (\) in directory paths.
For example, on Windows systems, $NCHOME is %NCHOME%.

Full details on installation prerequisite for this fixpack can be found in the
3.9.0_INSTALL_FP0004 file.

Installation Instructions

Full details on installation prerequisites and installation steps for this fixpack can be found in the 3.9.0_INSTALL_FP0004 file, which is downloadable from the link below..

If upgrading an existing IBM Tivoli Network Manager (ITNM) 3.9 installation that is using Tivoli Integrated Portal (TIP) version 2.1 to use TIP version 2.2, you will need the TIP FIT package. The TIP FIT package contains a TIP signature file used with TIP 2.2 Fix Packs and Feature Pack. Additional fix packs for TIP 2.2 can be applied after TIP 2.2.0.1 (Feature Pack), such as TIP 2.2.0.13. Each fix pack of TIP 2.2 (such as TIP 2.2.0.13) will have a separate TIP FIT package / signature file associated with it.

To obtain the TIP signature files, download them from Fix Central -->
http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm~Tivoli&product=ibm/Tivoli/Tivoli+Integrated+Portal&release=All&platform=All&function=all

Note from the TIP support team: the FIT packaging is bit different from TIP 2.2.0.1 to TIP 2.2.0.13. In TIP 2.2.0.13, FIT package you will not see any "input" folder and the signature file will be part of FIT.jar

Please use the same user id that you used to install the product/fix pack to extract these and then run the fix pack installer.

Installing the V3.9.0 Fix Pack 3
======================================================================
IMPORTANT: This fix pack provides performance improvements for topology
visualization and adaptive polling. The improvements require a database schema
upgrade for Fix Pack 3. The schema upgrade does not modify the functional behavior
of Network Manager, and the schema changes are compatible with Network Manager 3.9
or earlier 3.9 Fix Packs.

You will need to apply the schema upgrade before installing Fix Pack 3

Full details on how to upgrade schema and install this fixpack can be found in the
3.9.0_INSTALL_FP0003 file which is downloadable below. .

Prerequisites

. Network Manager V3.9 or earlier 3.9 Fix Packs must be installed before applying this Fix Pack.
. Ensure that there is approximately 1 GB of free space on the drive on which the product was installed.

Full details on installation prerequisite for this fixpack can be found in the
3.9.0_INSTALL_FP0003 file.

Installation Instructions

Full details on installation prerequisites and installation steps for this fixpack can be found in the
3.9.0_INSTALL_FP0003 file, which is downloadable from the link below..

NOTE:
If upgrading an existing IBM Tivoli Network Manager (ITNM) 3.9 installation that is using Tivoli Integrated Portal (TIP) version 2.1 to use TIP version 2.2, you will need the TIP FIT package. The TIP FIT package contains a TIP signature file used with TIP 2.2 Fix Packs and Feature Pack. Additional fix packs for TIP 2.2 can be applied after TIP 2.2.0.1 (Feature Pack), such as TIP 2.2.0.9. Each fix pack of TIP 2.2 (such as TIP 2.2.0.9) will have a separate TIP FIT package / signature file associated with it.

To obtain the TIP signature files, download them from Fix Central -->
http://www-933.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm~Tivoli&product=ibm/Tivoli/Tivoli+Integrated+Portal&release=All&platform=All&function=all

From the TIP support team, the FIT packaging is bit different from TIP 2.2.0.1 to TIP 2.2.0.9. In TIP 2.2.0.9, FIT package you will not see any "input" folder and the signature file will be part of FIT.jar.

Please use the same user id that you used to install the product/fix pack to extract these and then run the fix pack installer.

Description: When deleting directly from the domainMgr table or deleting all

for the database to handle or is simply too slow. The
domain_drop.pl script resolves this by incrementally deleting
batches of entities from the domain before deleting the domain
itself, but this mechanism does not currently work. The entities
are deleted only at the end of the script, when the domain
itself is removed from the domainMgr table.This defeats the
purpose of the script, and can fail on very large topologies.

Abstract: RCA FAILS TO SUPPRESS EVENTS FROM THE CHASSIS IP WHEN THE GRAPH
ENDS ON AN INTERFACE WITH THE SAME IP.
Description:
Isolated-Suppression fails to suppress events from the chassis
when the graph though the network terminates on an interface with the same
IP.In the user case, the interface that is used to identify the
chassis is contained within an VLAN. Although the VLAN is
subsequently contained within the chassis, it is also isolated
within the chassis because the chassis device is not an
IP-FORWARDING device. So although connectivity extends from the
interface to the VLAN, the path is not continuous up to the
chassis entity.
Therefore when RCA encounters events from the Chassis entity, it fails to
complete a continuous path from the polling station all
the way to the chassis and does not mark the event as a symptom.
Action:
1.Modify the Discovery stitcher code so that the interface
is upwardly connected to the VLAN.
2. Modify the RCA code so that when the Isolated-Suppression
algorithm encounters an interface on the path that has the same
IP address as the chassis, it looks for events on the chassis
too and suppresses any events it finds on the chassis.

a full year worth of data going back in time from today's date.
Year to date implies all data from the beginning of the current year.

Abstract: THE NCP_NCOGATE PROCESS NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO OPTIONALLY UPDATE AN
EVENT WHEN THE TOPOLOGY LOOKUP FAILED.
Description: The problem it addresses is the fact that the 3.8 gateway will
simply discard events that fail the topology lookup. This means that the
Impact policy which the customer has chained off the gateway's update will
never be triggered because the event is not updated.
Added the following to the gateway configuration file:
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// This is optional for events moving from ITNM to Omnibus that failed in the
// topology look up. An example of when you might use this is to update a flag
// in the event to indicate that ITNM has finished processing the event. This
// flag could then be used by an Impact policy to initiate further processing
// of the event.
//
// Note that after processing the EventFilter defined in config.ncp2nco will be
// applied.
//
create table config.topoFail
(
EventFieldMap object type vblist
);

// insert into config.topoFail
// (
// EventFieldMap
// )
// values
// (
// {
// NmosObjInst = 0,
// NmosEntityId = 0,
// NmosSerial = '',
// NmosCauseType = "eval(int, '$CAUSEUNKNOWN')"
// }
// );

Abstract: SINGLE QUOTES REQUIRED WHEN USING LITERALS IN POLLING POLICY,
HOWEVER THE GUI REPLACES QUOTES WITH &#039, BREAKING POLICY.
Description: When creating a Poll Definition involving a literal string, the
literal must be placed within single quotes. If you don't place
the string in quotes,the poller throws the error "error in
template" ... I believe this is expected.
However if you quote the string, it appears the quotes are
replaced by the string "'". This happens if you change
between the tabs (eg "Trigger Threshold" to "Clear Threshold"
and back to "Trigger Threshold") while creating a new poll
definition. It also happens when you save the poll definition
and then bring that poll definition back up for editing. If you
save the definition and edit a 3rd time, the "&" in "'" is
replaced by "&". And this replacement of the "&" will go on
continuously.

Abstract: VIRTUAL DOMAIN CONNECTION BETWEEN PRIMARY AND BACKUP NOT ALWAYS
CORRECTLY
Description: virtual domain connection between primary and backup ITNM
servers on different machines does not always restored correctly.
In a ITNM failover setup with primary and backup on two
machines, after the virtual domain processes had connected, if
there occurs an connection issue, Virtual domain should recover
from this once the connection can be re-established, but this
did not always happen. So when there is a tcp connection between
the two virtual domain processes and the tcp connection is rese t
due to firewall/network issues, intermittently the system does
not reconnect properly which will result in the backup ITNM not
being updated.
